Eric Raisina, Martial Tapolo and Sidy Counda at The Black Fashion Week Paris 2013
Though a large majority of the top African fashion shows for 2013 are long gone, with Zen Magazine Africa, the show’s still live! We’ve been busy counting through the Lagos, Johannesburg, Nairobi, and Paris catwalks to see which looks were hot and which were not. Last month, The Black Fashion Week Paris was in full display and I must say the fashion on display was simply incredible. Designers who showcased their designs include Adama Paris, Maria Bocoum, Sidy Counda, Eric Raisina, Zacometi, Martial Tapolo, Alphadi,
to name a few and each showcase was magical. We obviously have a few
favourites from the catwalk however I must confess, each designer was
amazing and their designs were looking terrific! We start our review
with designs from Eric Raisina, Martial Tapolo and Sidy Counda.
Eric Raisina
showed us that colours and fluffy fabrics work brilliantly together.
The designer played with vibrant colours and remarkable fabrics to
create the most beautiful and totally gorgeous dresses for women. Born
in Madagascar, Eric Raisina is well
known for bringing a delicious cocktail of looks in all his collections
and he didn’t disappoint one bit at the show. View our top 4 looks below

There was a definite African vibe to Martial Tapolo’s collection.
We’re talking beautifully constructed dresses, each with edgy designs
and detailing. Colours were pretty and feminine, with camel and brown
prevailing! Martial Tapolo was born in Cameroon.

We love the prints Sidy Counda mixed into his collection at The Black Fashion Week Paris. Sidy must have been inspired by Africa while designing this collection, as there were plenty of jumpsuits, dresses and various looks all mixed with some African prints. Sidy is from Senegal and we’re definitely feeling the love in this collection.
